How does it work?
Electrical energy - plasma discharge
Miniature TIG/Pulse Arc Welding uses electrical energy to create a plasma discharge. The high-temperature plasma, in turn, melts the metal within the dots. The process takes only a few milliseconds to complete. The process is clean and very controllable - ideal for complex and delicate welding applications on both precious and non-precious metals! Filler metals can also be added to create joints and form strong, reliable weld “beads” or seams.
2-in-1 combination
Orion combines a miniature TIG (also known as a pulsed arc) welder and a capacitor discharge resistance welder. This combination of capabilities offers unlimited creative possibilities. In “Arc Mode” (Micro TIG/Pulse Arc Welding), it can be used to make permanent welds, add metal, and perform a variety of other amazing, time-saving applications. In “Spot Mode” (Capacitor Discharge Resistance Welding), it can be used to temporarily position parts before welding or soldering.
The fundamentals of the Orion Welding System are very simple.
1.) Installation of grounding clips
2.) Use a specialized microscope focused on the tip of the welding electrode.
3.) The weld is triggered by simply touching the workpiece to the electrode.
4.) Perfectly welded every time!
